Discussions were held with the NGO Department on the challenges facing the registration of civil society organizations, measures to support them, the need to allocate dedicated budgets for them, and the role of Vision Foundation in working in the field of civil society.
On Wednesday, September 2, 2026, Herdi Ahmed, Deputy Head of the NGO Department of the Kurdistan Regional Government, visited the Vision Foundation for Strategic Studies. During the meeting, the challenges facing the registration of organizations in the Kurdistan Region were discussed, along with the need to allocate a dedicated budget for civil society organizations.
It was noted that in other countries, governments not only refrain from imposing taxes on civil society organizations, but also allocate a portion of national tax revenues to support, assist, and fund civil society organizations’ projects.
The Deputy Head of the NGO Department praised the role of Vision Foundation as a research institution and think tank, noting that within a short period of time, it has been able to carry out a number of important research activities, open discussions, and meetings addressing key issues concerning the Kurdistan Region.
