Nawaf Kılıç, president of the International Association of Industrialists and Businessmen in Turkey, emphasized that Sulaymaniyah is an important city in the eyes of Turkish businessmen and noted that they are planning to launch a special program in the near future for trade and investment in Sulaymaniyah and Halabja.

This was stated during an online seminar organized by Vision Foundation for Strategic Studies, under the title: “Economic and Trade Relations between Kurdistan Region and Turkey: Challenges and Solutions.” Nawaf Kılıç highlighted the importance of Sulaymaniyah Governorate and said: Strengthening the connection between Turkish businessmen and Sulaymaniyah is very important for both Turkey and Kurdistan Region. From that perspective, we support Sulaymaniyah and will work to encourage Turkish traders who are currently focused on Erbil and Duhok to also turn toward Sulaymaniyah.

He added: We hope that in the near future, Sulaymaniyah Airport will reopen and commercial transport will resume. Along with the resumption of flights between Sulaymaniyah and Turkey, there has also been a proposal to launch direct flights between Sulaymaniyah and Mersin. In addition, special projects and programs are planned soon for the governorates of Sulaymaniyah and Halabja.
