Vision and Mam Jalal’s Secretariat: Research Centers Can Contribute to Strengthening Relations Between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad

As part of its visit to Baghdad, a delegation from the Vision Foundation for Strategic Studies met with Dana Asaad, Head of Mam Jalal’s Secretariat in Baghdad, to discuss the current state of relations between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad and explore ways to further develop and strengthen them.
The meeting, held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, focused on the importance of reinforcing cooperation between governmental institutions and civil society organizations. Participants also emphasized the need to expand coordination and collaboration between research institutions in the Kurdistan Region and their counterparts in Baghdad in order to provide evidence-based solutions to shared challenges.
Discussions further highlighted the importance of elevating relations between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad to a higher level. In this context, the role of research centers, intellectuals, and political figures was underscored as an important driving force for narrowing differences, fostering mutual understanding, and supporting efforts to address common issues.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Head of Mam Jalal’s Secretariat in Baghdad expressed his full readiness to cooperate with and facilitate the work of the Vision Foundation and similar research institutions, with the aim of supporting development and reform efforts, strengthening national relations, and contributing to a better future for both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
