President of Iraq: Research Centers Are Key Partners in Decision-Making and Bridging Relations Between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad

As part of the Vision Foundation’s visit to Baghdad, the delegation met with Mr. Nizar Amidi, President of Iraq, on June 18, 2026. The meeting focused on the role of research centers, the importance of supporting scientific research, and ways to strengthen relations between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Vision Foundation presented an overview of the Foundation’s history, objectives, research output, and various activities. The delegation also highlighted its ongoing efforts to advance strategic research and contribute to serving society and public institutions.
For his part, Mr. Nizar Amidi emphasized the importance of research centers, noting that the studies and scientific outputs produced by such institutions can support government bodies in the decision-making process, improve public services, and enhance the quality and efficiency of governance.
He further stressed the need for research centers to maintain a strong presence and active engagement in Baghdad, given their potential role in bringing the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad closer together, as well as facilitating the exchange of experiences and expertise between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Federal Government of Iraq.
Mr. Nizar Amidi, President of Iraq, also noted that the Presidency places great importance on research centers and seeks, through its plans and programs, to provide support and facilitate their work so that they can produce more effective and impactful research that contributes to development and public policymaking.
