Vision Foundation hosted a focus group discussion examining citizens' living conditions and the economic situation in the Kurdistan Region. Participants assessed the current economic landscape, highlighting underlying drivers as well as actionable solutions.
On Wednesday, October 7, 2026, Vision Foundation for Strategic Studies organized this session with the participation of experts, specialists, and academics to evaluate living standards and regional economic dynamics.
During the session, attendees explored several key factors contributing to the decline in living standards and economic hardship. Notable among these were increased taxes and service fees, heavy purchasing of gold and silver ،which led to a shortage of cash liquidity and reduced currency circulation in the market and the rising prices of basic goods and essential commodities.
To address these challenges, participants proposed several solutions, including: raising public awareness, improving work culture, creating job opportunities and a supportive work environment for youth, diversifying income streams, and promoting prudent financial management and spending habits, particularly among young people.
The key findings and outcomes of this focus group will serve as the foundation for an upcoming policy paper by Vision Foundation for Strategic Studies. Its recommendations and proposals will be submitted to relevant authorities and stakeholders to inform future policy-making and strategic decisions.
